list of ways that show how much you love them

If you are like me, you wonder if the power of the phrase, “I Love You” will ever lose its luster with overuse. I want those close to me to be assured of the deep river of feeling that I have for them. I want each of them to know how much they mean to me everyday. Here are some ways to insure they know you care:

ways to show affection to loved ones

  • Make Eye Contact — No one can doubt the depth of love that exists in someone when they can see into your soul through your eyes. I know you are busy, but just for today, stop; face your partner or your child; wait until their attention is focused on you; give them one reason why they mean the world to you.
  • Take Time Out — We get so busy some days, that we may not actually get to spend anytime reading to the kids, asking our spouse how the day was, calling our moms or sisters to say hello, or giving the dog a big, ole tummy rub. Don’t forget to stop and fit in the people who mean the most to you.
  • Eat Together — Nothing says love like food! Mealtimes are when family and friends catch up with each other, serve each other, and maintain relationships. Whether it be at home, in a park, or in a restaurant, plan a special meal for the love(s) in your life.
  • Touch Much?! — When my little 2-year-old shoves her hands into my hair, I get a fabulous shiver. Why is that? Because human beings have 5 senses, but the most neglected is meaningful touch. They say we need 8 a day. Give your family what they need by holding a hand or giving a hug.
  • Write a Note — Keep a pretty notepad by (or on) the refrigerator and jot a note when the spirit moves you. Who wouldn’t like a note in their briefcase or lunch box that says, “You are the greatest!” or “You mean the world to me!” Post a note on their mirror or on the front door at night so they’ll have a pleasant surprise in the morning.
