list of things your child(ren) would most like to remember

My husband cannot remember who his teacher was for 1st grade. He’s tried, believe me, to remember, but can’t quite seem to extract that detail from his memory bank. He is not damaged because he cannot remember. But childhood is the foundation on which we build our lives and missing pieces can leave us feeling a bit off-kilter. Here are some things that your child(ren) will be happy you made note of:

preserving childhood memories

  1. School’s name (important when there are several childhood moves)
  2. Teacher’s name
  3. Classmates/Friends
  4. Holiday parties
  5. Sports
  6. Extracurricular activities (guitar lessons, clubs, etc)
  7. Field trips
  8. Awards/Honors
  9. Highlight(s)
  10. Milestone(s)

    i remember my kindergarten teacher, who was japanese-american, having a japanese food and culture day. i still remember sitting on the floor to eat, it was so much fun.

    Don’t forget to document their favorite toy… I know my husband LOVED his bike and still gets all wrapped up in his stories surrounding his friends and the freedom they had when on their bikes. LOL

    I love your list! I make lists for EVERYTHING! lol Especially when I’m bored. lol My favorite childhood moment was when I realized I wasn’t a “child” anymore. Well, sort of. It was one night when my guy friend whom I had known since I was 3 (I was probably 12 at the time) was swimming with me, a girl friend, and her girl cousin. Well, my friends cousin wouldn’t leave him alone while we were swimming. She kept chasing him and stuff. Well, it was night time and the only light we had was a little underwater light. The floatie I was on had a open are in the middle of it and he came over and “hid” in the little open area. It was the first time I looked at a guy as someone other than a friend.

    I homeschool, so my children don’t need to remember their teachers’ name! LOL

    For me, one of the most memorable things was when we moved from one school to another when I started 4th grade. It was scary, yet exciting, to go to a new school.
