list of ways to prepare for christmas in july

No, you are not seeing things. I said Christmas – or whatever December holiday you celebrate. You might be thinking, “We have almost 6 months until Christmas! Why rush it?!” Confucius tells us that “Success depends upon Preparation,” and while we are still far away from chopping down a tree or hanging the stockings, there are a few things that we can start to do now. . .in July.

Christmas in July

  • Save Money – You may have just gotten last Christmas paid for, but if you start to save money now, then this is the year that you can be better prepared. Start your holiday fund today!
  • Compile a Gift List – Make a list of anyone you might be buying a gift for this year.
  • Buy Gifts – Take advantage of end of summer sales.
  • Take your Family Portrait – Use that summer tan to your best advantage. Include this picture in your Christmas card.
  • Do Research – Before the hectic rush of the holiday season, start searching for new dishes to serve at your holiday meal, new crafts to use as gifts or activities, and new ideas to use for your family’s Christmas card.

When do you usually get started on your Christmas/holiday planning?

I used to be great about buying things way in advance and taking advantage of sales. But for some reason, I fell out of practice…when the kids were born, I think. Thanks for reminding me to get a move on it!

I can’t believe this Christmas is closer than last. Crazy.

We have already started our Christmas fund, which is the earliest we have ever done so. It is so nice to open presents and not have to worry about when the credit card statements for them will be arriving.

Does it count if I just start making a list of the stuff I want?

    Okay. Photo shoot time.
