Although a 20-month-old is only learning how to be self-sufficient, he or she will welcome the chance to follow mom around with a dusting cloth or use a little handbroom to help sweep the floor. Young children consider chores to be a form of play. Who are we to take away a child’s fun, right?! Here are some chores that a toddler can do with some supervision.
- Help make her bed
- Help feed pets
- Dust low furniture
- Pick up toys and books
- Help wipe up messes
- Put dirty clothes in hamper
- Sweep sidewalk
- Help mom wash dishes in the sink (using a step stool and lots of sudsy water)
- Unload dishes (preferably the non-breakable ones) and hand to mom to dry and put away
- Help sort laundry into whites and colors
