We will not be visiting family, nor will we be having company for the holiday, but that does not mean I want it to be any less special or memorable for my family. Each year, I am getting more and more satisfaction out of the reactions of my children on a holiday that centers around rather grown-up food. Last Thanksgiving, I felt so glad that they were finally eating (or willingly trying) all of the traditional foods that compose my family memories. Here are the things that will be found on our Thanksgiving table this year.
- Turkey – I bought it at the commissary for $.69/lb!
- Slow Cooker Stuffing *Added – so many requests for Slow Cooker Stuffing recipe*
- Broccoli Rice Casserole
- Mashed Potatoes – Aunt Vicki’s style: with butter, cream cheese, and sour cream! These are good!!!
- Gravy – although I do NOT eat this stuff. My husband will make the gravy.
- Cranberry Salad
- Dinner Rolls
- Pumpkin pie – made from the pumpkins out of our garden
- Great-Grandma Thurber’s prize-winning Pecan Pie
- Wine (Milk for the kids)
What’s on your menu for Thanksgiving?
