Memorial Day is here, which means that summer is upon us. Consider this week’s “the week ahead” your motivation to begin your summer travel planning. Planning ahead means first discovering how much money you have and how much it will take for your vacation.

- Monday (5/31/2010) Happy Memorial Day – Visit a cemetery. See a parade. Cookout with your friends and family. Enjoy the cool water on a hot day.
- Tuesday (6/1/2010) Analyze available travel funds - Take a look at what you’ve been saving for a future vacation or consider possible funding options for summer travel (e.g. yard sale, birthday gift, etc).
- Wednesday (6/2/2010) Discuss possible travel destinations – The available funds will tell you how long your vacation will be and whether you will be able to go far from home or stay in the area.
- Thursday (6/3/2010) Research possible travel expenses per destination – Who wouldn’t like Tahiti as a travel choice? But will your travel budget cover airfare and expensive hotels? Consider your mode of travel and your accommodations as two of your most expensive budgetary items.

- Saturday (6/5/2010) Shop around - Train, plane, or automobile. Start looking now for the best prices.
