Let’s face it, school supplies are not the most earth-friendly products in the world. A lot of trees have met untimely deaths due to the onset of August/September in years past. This year, there is an awareness that we can be more cautious, more considerate in our choices for school supplies. In beginning my family’s Back-to-School shopping, I have been doing some research for the kind of products that I feel good about as my children prepare for a new year. Here are some of my latest finds.
- Papermate Earthwrite Recycled Pencils – made from reclaimed wood
- 100% Recycled Notebooks, Binders, & Filler Paper – even choose from a selection of paper made from banana leaves
- 100% Recycled Copy Paper – all-purpose paper
- CrayonRocks – made of soy wax so these are bio-degradable
- Coccoina Adhesive-Glue Stick – and smells yummy
- Hemp Backpacks/Lunchbags – an alternative to nylon and PVC materials used for most backpacks
- Gourmet Insulated Lunch Bag – beautiful designs and machine-washable
- Wrap-N-Mat – washable, reusable sandwich bags

Check out O'BON, they have recycled newspaper pencils and paper made from sugarcane. Pretty amazing designs. My daughter seems to really love them.
