list of essential organizing products for your home office

Because my business in almost completely online, I have not needed that much space for my home office.  Basically, until recently, my home office has consisted of my favorite overstuffed chair, a matching ottoman to hold my laptop and my notebinder, and a small basket to hold my hole punch and pens.  As ListPlanIt has grown, I have begun to need a space with a little more room, and space where I could get away from the hubbub of the house and concentrate on what needs to be done.  I now have a new office area in my home.  I am utilizing vertical space, which I love.   Here are some things from the Container Store that I have either begun to use in my office, or have added to my Items Needed page.

  • elfa office system – I had come across elfa on the web and it truly made an impression on me.  I loved that it had a larger board for the lower shelf that a person could use as a desk.  I couldn’t find that with any other system.  elfa’s reviews were outstanding.  I knew when the time was right, this would be the system I went with – and I’m glad I did.  It was so easy to install.  They thought of everything.
  • Stockholm Office Storage Boxes – These stylish boxes are perfect for stacking, storing, sorting, and saving everything from our own office needs to our children’s artwork to family documents.
  • Bisley 5-Drawer Cabinets – These have some of my favorite features: drawers for easy access, convenient size, pretty color choices, and tabs for clear communication of the contents of each drawer.
  • Posy Desktop Photo & Memo Holder – I love this little multi-tasker. It is both a desk decoration (because even though we are working, we still want it to be pretty), and a place to put random bits that you might want in plain view for a little while.
  • Page Ups – I love these little things! They work perfectly for holding up a sheet of paper from which you need to work. Particularly if you need both hands to type or write.
  • Bulletin & Magnetic Board – Because sometimes you want to use a magnet to prevent damage and sometimes you want to use a pushpin to take up less space, this magnetic bulletin board allows you to do both!
  • Stacking Desktop System – Again, with utilizing the vertical space, I love that you can taylor these components to stack on top of each other. They are clear and will fit with any color scheme.

  • Your office sounds very orderly. Mine is covered with piles of paper that seem to move around the desk but never disappear. Yesterday, I bought 2 wooden tray to finally start organizing my office.

  • I sure wish my home office looked as nice as this. I tend to use the horizontal filing system across my desk and counter. LOL Thanks for the inspiration!
