It is so exciting to go from sitting in one desk all day to switching classrooms every hour. You move out from the protective wing of one teacher to a group of teachers that may handle over one hundred students in one day. It is up to you and your child to be prepared. Responsibility jumps to a new level in Middle and High School. Here is a list of things beyond pencil and paper that you will want to be sure to include in his/her locker or have available at home:
- Sturdy, comfortable backpack
- Student Planner (calendar, homework schedule)
- 3-ring binder or notebooks
- Folders for each class
- Electric pencil sharpener
- Highlighters
- Computer with internet access
- Ream of computer paper
- Library card
- Reference books (dictionary, thesaurus, atlas)
What’s on your list?

I do not. I am relying on my memory and fellow moms experiences.
Do you by any chance have a child going into junior high?
