Fall here in Maine means that the nights get down to near freezing and the trees turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow. The air is crisp and so are the apples picked right off the tree at nearby orchards. I have always loved those first few times of putting on a cozy sweater or fleece for the season. And the bugs have all but retreated until next spring. Here are my favorite things to do in the fall.
- Go on a hayride.
- Visit a corn maze.
- Make s’mores over a campfire.
- Go apple-picking.
- Take walks through the changing woods with my camera in tow.
- Find a pumpkin patch to pick the biggest jack-o-lantern pumpkin and the best pie pumpkin.
- Go leaf-collecting and then iron them between two sheets of wax paper.
- See a local football team play.
- Visit an agricultural fair.
- Start thinking about Halloween.
