My mom used to have a clothesline. I remember the way the clothes smelled. In all of my lodgings, I always looked for opportunities to have a clothesline. In fact, I’ve had nothing but a clothesline to dry my clothes in a couple of places. My home in Maine has the most perfect place to hang my family’s clothing. . . right in between 2 trees.
- I love hanging my clothes out first thing in the morning. The birds are singing and it is so peaceful.
- I keep a better laundry schedule because I must hang laundry at certain times of the day or the clothes will not dry.
- It gets me outside and away from my computer.
- Have I mentioned the smell of the clothes after hanging outside?
- I am preserving my clothes.
- I am conserving energy.
- I am saving money (by conserving energy).
- My 6-year-old is learning to fold clothes by standing next to me and following my lead as we take clothes off the line.
- I love my Maine yard. I grew up in Kansas so I am still in complete awe of these trees!
- It makes me feel so good. I suppose this reason is just from a combination of all of the other reasons, but a reason like this should not be overlooked.

Agree, there is something relaxing and refreshing about hanging out the clothes.
I also love hanging clothes outside. Our glorious summer days in Australia have it dried before you know it.
I have a Hills hoist which goes round & round and dries the clothes quickly. Love your line between the trees!
The sun is great for the fresh smell & also the savings by not using the dryer.. which I usually only use to finish drying the clothes off in winter.
Now that winter is on it's way I have to bring it in before it gets damp or the neighbours put on their fires... nothing worse than the smell of smoke in your clothes.
