I am not a dad, and I would not want to pretend to speak for all dads out there. However, one thing I know is that it is imperative that all dads feel how much their role in the family is appreciated. Showing that appreciation does not have to be in the form of large, expensive gifts. Acknowledging the contribution dads make to their families can be done in so many ways. Here are some ways that you can show Dad how much he means to your family.
- A video of your children talking, singing, or even answering questions about Daddy.
- Breakfast in Bed. Complete with coffee, bacon & eggs, and an hour free to just lay in bed with his iPad and browse the internet (oh, sorry – that is what the Daddy of our house would like).
- Tickets! To a ball game, a movie, a concert, you name it! The perfect escape.
- A free pass to be a couch potato for a day!
- A project boost. What Dad doesn’t have a project in the works? Give him a little boost by surprising him with the tool/resource he needs to finish the project.
- His favorite dinner, complete with his favorite dessert.
- *Disclaimer – what you are about to read is meant only for the father of your children, not your own Dad. Recreating the act of becoming a Dad. Okay, now I’m blushing, but let’s be honest!
What are you doing to show the dads in your life how wonderful they are?

Tamara, I do hope you mean paint brushes (and not "pain brushes" - ouch!) Otherwise, I think it sounds like a lovely Father's Day at your house!
Well this may seem 'odd' to some. We are making hubby a gift basket filled with glue, files, pain brushes, a new tube (for his air compressor) and other odds and ins since he is a model builder, and a Preorder certificate to Star Craft 2. The kids each make him a little something, this year Becky is making a keychain, Brendan a new bookmark, Jeff hasnt decided, and Alin made a personalized mouse pad in graphics glass. Sad thing he has to work on Fathers Day :(
Your blog is interesting! Keep up the good work!
My husband is a contractor. Therefore, his tools are never at home. They are at a job site somewhere or in someone's truck. In just the past few weeks, there have been instances where he has needed his tools at home and .... So, today I went and bought him a tool box to specifically keep at home and filled it with the basics - screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, a hammer...stuff like that. He is so hard to buy for otherwise. I think this is something he will appreciate.
