For a great many people, the month of March offers hope for the end of winter. It has been another long and snowy one, and though I do not kid myself that it is over (snow is pouring out of the sky as I type this post), March offers hope that spring is around the corner. And with spring – or the idea of spring – comes new thoughts and projects. It is time to begin to shake off our hibernation and get in gear.
Here are some of the things that will be happening in my house and community during the month of March.
- Daylight Savings – Next Saturday, we will be turning our clocks ahead. This means a little darker in the morning, but lighter in the evening.
- Planning – This is my favorite part. When I get to sit with my lists and my pencil and start mapping things out. There will be so many things to really start planning in the next few months.
- Projects – I want to have a yard sale this spring. My storage room needs some attention.
- Spring Cleaning – I am beginning to get the itch to clean windows and make face plates shine. Spring motivates me to make things new (or like new).
- Sugaring – Here in New England, there may be snow on the ground at the end of March, but all the better to drizzle maple syrup over for some instant maple candy!

In our family, march is for marching. Have you ever heard of the Johnson Family Marching Band? Probably not…It’s my intent on making sure that you do. “Mark Time!” “Half Step!” “Double Time!”
I do love march but I am much more happier when it turns may and full blown summer comes into action.
