- Location, Location, Location – Do you want him/her to be within a short driving distance? Or if you live in someplace flat, maybe you’d like him/her to have a taste of the mountains?
- Dates Available / Length of Stay – Check your summer calendar. Determine whether your child can handle a day camp or an overnight camp. Would he/she do better in camp for a week or for the summer?
- Staff – What are the Director’s credentials? What are the qualifications of the counselors?
- Counselor to Camper Ratio
- Cost – Does it work into your budget? Do they have financial aid?
- Accreditation – Is the camp accredited through any camp organizations?
- Daily Schedule – Is it rigid or flexible?
- Activities – What types of activities are offered at this camp?
- Disciplinary Methods – What happens when a child disobeys the rules?
- Transportation – Will they be transporting the children during their stay? What mode of transportation will they be using? Who will be driving?
