In 1978, President Carter proclaimed that the first Sunday after Labor Day would be National Grandparents Day. Whether you celebrate it officially this year (it falls on September 11th) or decide to devote another day to these important relations, here are some clever ideas to shower grandparents with love.
- Go around the table after dinner and share a special memory about a grandparent.
- Make a card and or write a thank you letter to a grandparent.
- Make a family tree.
- Write and share a biography of your grandparent.
- Interview your grandparent (they probably have some really neat stories to tell).
• Record or videotape responses if possible - Draw a portrait of your grandparent.
- Write a grandparent poem.
• Maybe an acrostic poem where you write their name vertically down the side of a paper and then words to describe them starting with each letter in their name. - Call your grandparent and tell them how much you love them.
- Read a book about grandparents.
