It is a duty to our country and to our children to get involved in the matters that affect us deeply. In particular, we have a Presidential race that is already the topic of the day. Be glad for a system of checks and balances, but resist the urge to become complacent.

1. Research the parties’ platforms (list the pros and cons of each).
2. Research the candidates (lists the pros and cons of each).
3. Register to vote and save the date of November 4, 2008.
4. Check into CNN on TV or online to stay abreast.
5. Attend a rally.
6. Talk up voting to friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
7. Volunteer for a campaign.
8. Volunteer with financial support (every dollar counts).
9. Get your family involved.
10. Support your candidate online (by blogging or in online communities).
