I never celebrated May Day as a child, but now that I have my own children, it seems only right to celebrate the start of such a spectacular month!
- Make May Day baskets to hang on the neighbors doors.
- Decorate a Maypole and let the children run and skip around it.
- Visit a garden center and choose the brightest, sweetest-smelling flowers you can find.
- Run barefoot in a game of tag on the new, soft grass.
- Grill your favorite foods and eat out on the deck or porch.
- Visit a local or state park.
- Say “No” to TV today. Get outside instead.
- Read a magazine on the porch while your children play outside.
- Take a walk and be sure to pay attention to the new leaves and wildflowers you see.
- Visit a Humane Society shelter to brighten the day for some abandoned animals.
