list of ways to make may day special

I never celebrated May Day as a child, but now that I have my own children, it seems only right to celebrate the start of such a spectacular month!

  1. Make May Day baskets to hang on the neighbors doors.
  2. Decorate a Maypole and let the children run and skip around it.
  3. Visit a garden center and choose the brightest, sweetest-smelling flowers you can find.
  4. Run barefoot in a game of tag on the new, soft grass.
  5. Grill your favorite foods and eat out on the deck or porch.
  6. Visit a local or state park.
  7. Say “No” to TV today. Get outside instead.
  8. Read a magazine on the porch while your children play outside.
  9. Take a walk and be sure to pay attention to the new leaves and wildflowers you see.
  10. Visit a Humane Society shelter to brighten the day for some abandoned animals.
